There comes a time in any project where you feel you have done all you can do. For me, I feel this time is possibly approaching with this site.

I have seen this site explode overnight from having 3 members to dozens.

The basic fact is that this site is not as profitable as I would like it to be. Do I make revenue on this site? Yes. Does it cover operating costs? No.

Just so no one freaks out, my YouTube venture is still in full swing, and as many of you will see I am releasing videos more often now.

I see this site, FSHQ, as a site losing members and overall interest. Because there are countless other sites that offer the same type of content as we do, we are often left behind with little to show for our efforts.

I have another idea in my head for my next project that would be developed strictly to coincide with my YT ventures. Whether this idea makes it to reality, or not, depends on a few factors that need not be discussed here today.

What do you want to see happen to this site? If I told you that you could do anything with it, what would you do?

Updated Policy
Posted on Thursday 04 September 2008 - 13:17:05 by Cessna154
Per the powers and duties I hold as one of the owners of FSHQ, I claim the following to be rules that are effective now. Moderators, you are held to the same standards that are listed below, and your duties as a moderators have now been better defined.

The use of "SPAMMING" is not acceptable and will not be tolerated from this point forward. I want everyone to share their viewpoints here, but if you go off topic during a thread to the point where the thread has lost value or meaning, then there will be some consequences. I challenge each and everyone of you to start new threads when you need to discuss a topic that is not already being discussed, and stay away from just integrating your other conversations into a thread that is progressing well on its own.

Moderators will take active steps to reduce and curve off topic discussions that take place in a thread that is developed. It really shouldn't be that hard for people to stay on the topic being discussed. Take note of the previous posts on that thread folks, it really is that easy. My goal is not to scare members, or to make members feel like they can't share their thoughts here. I will NOT be placing an age restriction on how old a person must be to be a member here on FSHQ

The guidelines regarding Spamming are as follows;
-If a member makes clear and precise remarks in a thread that cause the thread's initial ideas and topics to be altered to the point where a new thread could be started, this will be considered Spamming.
-Example: If a thread is about Flight Simulator Flying Techniques, and a member decides to make comments about a new video game coming out, this will be considered Spamming.
-To PREVENT SPAMMING Please make a new topic - it is that easy!

Moderators, please follow this course of action in the event of spamming OR other type of behavior that is negative to the forums/threads growth and development.

-If, in your unbiased opinion, you feel that a member has behaved in a way that is outlined above, please do the following.

-1st Occurrence; a WRITTEN warning is sent to the member via PM. A record of this PM will be sent to me, Cessna154, for data entry.

-2nd Occurrence; a SUSPENSION from the forum will be delivered to the member via PM. Record of this SUSPENSION will be sent to me. Suspensions can range from 30 minutes to a Permanent Ban. If the Suspension is longer than 3 days, I, Cessna154, must clear the suspension / ban.

-3rd Occurrence; member will be TEMPORARILY suspended (no time frame) and I, Cessna154, will rule/judge on the punishment. Likely punishment is a ban. Moderators will report to me, Cessna154, of the Occurrence, and a PM will be sent to the member.

IMPORTANT NOTE; to be fair to all members, an appeals process is in place for a member to appeal their punishment to the Executive Team. If a member chooses to appeal a punishment, they MUST make that clear via PM to Cessna154. At the discretion of the Executive Team, the member's punishment could be delayed while the case is being reviewed. A public vote COULD take place on the violation if the Executive Team can not come to a UNANIMOUS decision.

Finally, a Staff change will be announced later at an appropriate time.

Eagle and I have build this site up from the design stage. We see growth in this venture and want to make sure that this growth is positive. Please feel free to share your thoughts, concerns, and questions.

Delta Flight made Emergency landing in Littie Rock
Posted on Friday 01 August 2008 - 17:40:10 by Cessna154
It will be a long night for passengers on Delta Airlines flight 1033.

They left Atlanta’s Hartsfield Airport en route to Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport aboard a 767 jet a little behind schedule, about 7 p.m. Eastern time Thursday. They expected a 4-hour non-stop flight.

As the flight passed over Arkansas, a passenger required immediate medical treatment. The pilot diverted to Adams Field airport in Little Rock.

Adams Field spokeswoman T.J. Williams said the passenger was rushed to University Hospital in Arkansas' capital city.

For the remaining passengers, another odyssey ensued.

Adams Field rarely sees a plane as large as a 767. Delta spokeswoman Susan West said the carrier's ground crew did not have a towbar strong enough to push the jet back from the gate.

Airport officials checked with other airlines and the Little Rock Air Force Base to locate the proper equipment to move the Delta jet.

The search was fruitless. Williams said the flight was suspended and passengers were taken to area hotels.

Delta is bringing a proper towbar from Memphis to Little Rock overnight. Passengers should resume their trip to Arizona Friday morning. - By Littie Rock News

this fly has made it to phoenix about a day behind but they made it.

Qantas 747 Lands After Fuselage Part Detaches
Posted on Monday 28 July 2008 - 17:15:36 by Cessna154
A Qantas Boeing 747-400 flying from Hong Kong to Melbourne had to make an emergency landing after parts of the aircraft fuselage separated, causing a rapid decompression of the cabin.

The section of the fuselage in the forward cargo compartment appears to have separated, the ATSB says, although Qantas describes it as a "hole in the fuselage."

The 747 was flying at around 29,000 feet when the incident occurred, the Australian Transport Safety Bureau says. The crew then descended to 10,000 ft. before flying on to the land at Manila. The airline says the aircraft landed at 11:15 local time.

No injuries have so far been reported. Qantas says 346 passengers and 19 crew were on flight QF30.

The ATSB says it's dispatched a team of four inspectors to investigate the incident. The U.S. National Transportation Safety Board and Boeing will also be involved in the incident review. Qantas also has dispatched an engineering team.

This story first appeared earlier in the Things With Wings blog. A video taken on board the aircraft during the incident is available in this BBC report and at YouTube.
